Dr. Rebecca (Becki) Ford is Associate Professor in Sensory and Consumer Science at the University of Nottingham, UK. Becki’s research is focused on understanding multi-sensory flavour perception. Her expertise has been applied to measure the impact of alcohol on sensory perception and flavour release in alcoholic systems resulting in an advanced understanding of how sensory signals are used and integrated to perceive flavour from complex alcoholic beverage systems.
Through previous industry roles, she has considerable experience consulting, advising and developing sensory capabilities for global food and beverage companies. Becki leads the Sensory and Consumer Science research capability at the University of Nottingham and is deputy Head of the Division of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics. Externally, she has developed effective research collaborations with the University of Adelaide and University of Florence as well a numerous global FMCG companies. She is a member of the Institute of Food Science and Technology’s (IFST) Sensory Science Group UK and a board member of the European Sensory Science Society.
